About Winter Food Trade

Winter Food Trade was founded from our family-run arable farm, where we’ve been growing onions and potatoes for many years. With pride, we’re now taking the next step into trade and export, with a clear focus on quality, origin, and a strong Northern Dutch identity.
We believe in the strength of our region. Onion cultivation in Northern Netherlands is on the rise, and we believe it’s time these onions are also processed and traded locally. That’s where we come in – close to the grower, with product knowledge and directly to the buyer.

From seed to shipment

At Winter Food Trade, we believe in the power of strong relationships – both at the source and on the demand side. We work closely with farmers and processors in the Netherlands to ensure optimal quality, availability, and sorting of our products. At the same time, we stay in close contact with our clients at home and abroad, carefully listening to their needs and market requirements.

This dual focus – on both the grower and the customer – allows us to respond quickly and reliably, with attention to quality, transparency, and consistency. In doing so, we build long-term partnerships throughout the entire supply chain: from field to customer.

Vision & Ambition

Our vision is that the onions grown in the north should also be processed and packed in the north. By staying close to the farmer, we aim to ensure that the beautiful product grown in the region is processed locally as much as possible before being exported.
Our ambition is to strengthen the region by processing and exporting locally, while focusing on the power of local collaboration and product quality.

What are we doing to make this vision a reality?
The onions that have been exported so far have all come from the north of the Netherlands. By working with various processors, we are already taking important steps towards realizing our vision. Our focus now is on expanding our collaboration with local partners so that in the future, we can bring processing capacity closer to the source and further strengthen the region.
Every step we take brings us closer to realizing our ambition to support the region and process and export the product as locally as possible.
